John Pippus: "Oh Winnipeg!" Writer/Actor
Rachel Scott: "Oh Winnipeg!" Director
American Conservatory Theatre: MFA: Acting
"Oh Winnipeg!" is the journey of a singer/songwriter's life in - and out - of music. Born into a non-musical family (or is he?), Pippus traverses stripjoints, nude beaches, and insane asylums while stumbling after the big dream. This one-man play features a long-dead great aunt from the London stage, bluesman Eddie "Son" House, original music, and much more. The Vancouver Province says singer/songwriter John Pippus "...is a refined tunesmith with serious pop hooks."
Bit By Bit Productions presents this one-man, one-act play written and performed by John Pippus. Directed by Rachel Scott.
Debuting at the Victoria Fringe Festival on August 27/09 at the Intrepid Studio Theatre (Venue 6), "Oh Winnipeg!" went on to win PICK OF THE FRINGE at the 25th Annual Vancouver Fringe Festival. The eight-show run in Vancouver was at the Havana Theatre on Commercial Drive. The first show in Vancouver was on Friday, Sept. 11/09.
Following an additional three-night run at the Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island, as one of four plays designated a "Pick", the play did a two-week run at the Firehall Theatre on Vancouver's Eastside.
Now "Oh Winnipeg!" comes to to the 2010 Winnipeg Fringe Fest. Opening night is Wednesday, July 14th, 2010 at 7:45PM The Colin Jackson Studio Theatre (Venue 17). The theatre has a seating capacity of 111 seats and is in the heart of the action. Ticket info at 94-FRINGE (7464). Please visit The Winnipeg Fringe site for more.
